About this Event
RSM Gallery proudly presents this solo exhibition of drawings and mixed media sculptures by Ifé Franklin, an activist artist whose work merges history, spirituality and Afrofuturism. Ifé Franklin’s Indigo Project has been developed over the last decade to honor the lives, culture and history of formerly enslaved Africans/African Americans with collaborative construction of life-size replicas of slave cabins at its center. The artist will bring indigo-dyed Adire panels from her 4th Ancestor Slave Cabin Sculpture to create the installation “Cabin in the Sky” in the center of the RSM Gallery, surrounded by her large Dogon/Sirius B/Ancestor drawings and Conjure Bottle sculptures. Ifé Franklin’s Indigo Project is a testament to the enslaved, and ultimately this project transmits the energy of love, honor, joy, respect and remembrance.
