EVOLUTION features a selection of paintings and drawings by Boston-based artist John Guthrie. Informed by his background in aerospace engineering, Guthrie has spent the past thirty years constructing a vocabulary of high key color, deft compositions, and crisp geometry. His work has evolved around an expansive view of abstraction that embodies principles of queerness and challenges visual conventions. Throughout the exhibition, Guthrie’s images continuously activate new perspectives, pushing viewers to recognize the fallibility of pre-existing structures and binaries.
