Bentley University

People have rights, and these rights are sometimes violated. What does this mean for businesses? Join our distinguished panel of academic and industry experts to learn what businesses are and should be doing to protect and respect human rights. We begin by exploring what human rights are and how business activity can impact them. We’ll consider what businesses should be doing to ensure that human rights are respected in their operations, and what they should do if they discover they are not. We’ll consider when the state should take the lead in addressing rights violations, and when (and why) businesses and other private actors should step in. We’ll hear about how a concern for human rights fits together with familiar concepts like CSR and ESG, and what this means for corporate governance and corporate culture. We’ll also explore recent legislation regarding human rights in the U.S. and Europe. We welcome your questions as well.
