< RSM Gallery Artist Talk and Reception with Julia Csekö - Bentley University
Bentley University

RSM Gallery presents a solo exhibition of Julia Csekö’s text-based works. An artist talk will begin at 5 p.m., followed by an opening reception until 7 p.m. “Ideas to Postpone the End of the World” features Csekö’s Speaking Truth to Power series, highlighting writings by women, BIPOC, Latinx and LGBTQIA thinkers who examine power structures and systemic injustice. Csekö draws from texts by Hannah Arendt, Julian Assange, Angela Davis, Diane di Prima, Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, Paulo Freire and Ailton Krenak. Her decisive, interlocked color-block shapes draw the viewer in and disrupt the linearity of the narrative while the playful spacing of her lettering creates ambiguity that visually slows down reading, providing opportunities for curiosity, critique and dialogue.
